Welcome To Ringhaddy Daffodils

Excellent daffodil bulbs from Northern Ireland

Welcome to our 2015 website. We hope you enjoy looking through it and that you find it easy to use. Currently we have not got images of every one of our varieties, but will continue to add them.

We have eleven exciting new introductions this year. (Click on "New Daffodils" and choose "2015" to see them all) and we also have three that, although not new introductions, are new to Ringhaddy.

Six new varieties of our own breeding; 'Hello Gorgeous' (11aW-O), 'Muiranna' (1Y-Y), 'Mzungu' (2W-W), 'Nantucket Red' (3O-R), 'Simba' (4Y-Y) and an Intermediate 'Pantaloon' (4W-YPP).
- A seedling from Chris Yates (England), 'Kantzeewai' (2Y-YPP)
- From Harold Koopowitz we offer some more autumn flowering bulbs; Autumn Fantasy Group (8W-O); a species, that has been line-bred, Narcissus miniatus (13W-O) and a hybrid of N. cavanillesii and N. miniatus, x pezlerae (13Y-Y).
- New to Ringhaddy we have two from John Hunter, a top breeder from New Zealand: 'Gold Lake (11aY-O) and 'Navigator' (2Y-O).
- Another breeder new to Ringhaddy is Gerard Knehans Jnr. from the USA: 'Saint Louie Louie' (6W-Y).

Throughout the world 2014 seemed to be the year for strange weather and Ireland was no exception. We had one of the wettest winters on record followed by one of the driest and hottest summers. Digging daffodils in 'tropical' Ireland was a novelty, sun and temperatures in the mid 20s. Bulbs were as clean as we have ever had them, not much moisture to make mud to stick to them! The decision to cut back on our stock levels made planting a great deal easier and quicker as did the favourable weather. This year we decided to hold a reduced stock of bulbs and varieties, therefore you will see that many, particularly older varieties, have been marked as 'Last time offered' and so will not be available in 2016.

Once again we would like to thank our loyal customers for their continued support. We very much enjoyed meeting many of you during 2014, in Ireland, the rest of the UK and also the USA. Nial spent an enjoyable few days at the ADS Convention in Little Rock, Arkansas and later in April we visited Greenwich, Connecticut and the island of Nantucket, for their daffodil shows. We hope to see many more of you this year and would extend a very warm welcome to anyone who would like to visit the field during the flowering season.

Best wishes to you all for a happy and successful growing season in 2015.
