Anna Panna 3Y-O ANNA PANNA, Early mid-season. (Nial Watson) Moon Tide x Achduart [W 167] A lovely, consistent, intermediate variety. This flower is almost perfectly round and has a pale yellow perianth with overlapping major segments and broad minors. The corona is a vivid orange disc. It has great substance and pose and has been much admired particularly in London. Although it grows bigger as it matures it has never grown beyond 75mm here. Best Div. 3 Hillsborough 2007. Ann Sonia 4W-W ANN SONIA, Very late. (F. A. L. Harrison) Probably Delphin Hill op. One of Frank’s 4W-W from poeticus origins. It is a beautiful poeticus white and much rounder and more doubled than many from the same origin. Although very late for exhibition this lovely scented flower can extend the daffodil season and as we believe that it is fertile (diploid?) should provide breeding potential. The corona is most impressive with a deep rose pink colour that jumps out at you. This variety is also dwarf so the plant matches the flower and is not an intermediate flower on a standard plant. A very useful plant for breeding colourful intermediates and maybe miniatures. Little Alice 4Y-O LITTLE ALICE, AM,Early (N.A.C. Watson) Unknown double x Crackington. [W 340]. This delightful little flower is similar to Crackington but with a fuller form and a deeper colour contrast. The perianth is golden yellow and the outer sehments are overlapping. The inner are slightly narrower with the orange corona segments in two whorls and evenly spaced. Sweetly scented. Problem Child 2P-GYP PROBLEM CHILD, Late. (B. S. Duncan). Quickstep O.P. x Fragrant Rose [D 2631]. This flower is from a cross deliberately seeking two elusive characteristics – fragrance and pink in the perianth. Fragrance is achieved and pink in the perianth is definitely there in the early phases of flower maturity and is chosen for the perianth colour code. Division is also debatable – Div. 2 or Div. 7? We have chosen the former because of the outbreeding that results in only one flower per stem. Also, when entered as a Div. 7 at Omagh Show last year there was much debate and the concensus seemed to be that it was a Div. 2 and should have been in the ‘Intermediate’ class – even though the judges gave it First Prize! Whatever the views of others we think this is a most attractive Intermediate show flower with potential for breeding fragrant daffodils with deeper pink perianths. Solera 2YYW-YPP SOLERA, Mid-season. (B. S. Duncan). Brindle Pink x American Heritage [D 2586]. This is a beautiful, stylish and smooth little flower which we think will measure ‘Intermediate’ in most situations. The broadly ovate perianth segments are rich honey-toned yellow with a distinct pinkish/white halo. The ideally proportioned near trumpet length cylindrical corona is mildly expanded and waved and is a debatable but attractive shade of deep orangey-pink. The whole plant – leaves, stem and flower are in ideal ‘Intermediate’ proportion and it increases with amazing rapidity.
